Qualifications

The Building Skills Centre is a CITB and City & Guilds Accredited Assessment Centre and
our Instructors are NVQ Assessors.
The NVQ and ICA Qualification provides formal recognition of success in a number of units.
To obtain the qualification candidates must prove competence in all elements of each unit.

Plastering Intermediate Construction Award (ICA)

The Intermediate Construction Award course has been designed to prepare candidates for work in a plastering occupation. This plastering course has been specifically designed for those with no previous experience and not already working in the industry. Training is carried out in a workshop environment and assessment is based on candidates showing what they can do.  All ICA units are related to their equivalent NVQ unit and will indicate what extra assessment is needed to gain the related NVQ unit, once working on site.

Each ICA route comprises:

• Core Units
• Occupation–specific units
• Phase tests
• Gola Test
• H&S Test

Plastering National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 2 or 3
 
The National Vocational Qualification Level 2 or 3 Award has been designed for those
already working in the Industry. Because candidates will have differing levels of skill our
assessors will complete a skills match. This allows for existing skills and competence to
be recognized and weaknesses identified. We will then provide an Individual Learning Plan
for each candidate. Any training required can be delivered in the workshop but assessments
are usually undertaken in the workplace.

• Underpinning Knowledge
• Portfolio of evidence
• H&S Test
