Following in Dads footsteps
James Byrne of Glasgow attended The Building Skills Centre Foundation Hand Plastering Course in 2005 and immediately went about setting up his own business.
In less than a year James work load had increased so much that he needed to employ more plasterers. Having been impressed with the training received at The Building Skills Centre James had no hesitation in sending his 16 year old son Martin and 17 year old nephew William Wilson on the two week Hand Plastering course to learn the necessary skills to join the family business.
Having never been to Somerset before the teenagers were obviously apprehensive at first but Martin and William said “our instructor Howard soon made us feel at home.”
Martin & William were pleased with their training and said “we’ve learnt a huge amount here over the last two weeks, the work has been hard but the time had flown past - we are now feeling confident about start work -we really feel we’ve had our monies worth!!” they added “Howard and Adrian were always available to help and encourage us even when we did things wrong”.
Martin and William stayed in our own accommodation and said it was ideally located close to the Building Skills Centre, town centre and the railway station.
Martin and William had flown from Glasgow to Bristol and then the train from Bristol to Yeovil.
On their return to Scotland both lads are starting apprenticeships to further enhance their skills and qualifications - We wish them the best of luck.
